A graduate student working to clear his father’s name is caught up in an international conspiracy involving his brother and war criminals in hiding. Dustin Hoffman is fantastic in the lead role. Superb direction, following several intersecting plot lines through time and continents.
A classic 1970’s action-suspense thriller by British director John Schlesinger. A fine supporting cast, including Laurence Olivier (who received an Oscar nomination for his role), Roy Scheider and William Devane.
Highly stylized and touching on controversial themes, inspired by many true events and facts. Great musical score by composer Michael Small.
Contains one of the most frightening scenes to grace the cinema screen, a prominent addition to many “All Time” lists by respected sources including Time Magazine and the American Film Institute.
Also interesting from a technical perspective – one of the first films to employ the newly-invented Steadicam system from operator and inventor Garrett Brown.

Marathon Man Cast: Dustin Hoffman, Laurence Olivier, Roy Scheider and William Devane, Marthe Keller, Fritz Weaver
